Now for the young kids I know it's mandatory in most countries and it should be mandatory for all goalies. You are constantly going into a butterfly position and sprawling along the ice...please make sure you wear this piece of equipment it just might save you... because the last thing you need is someone stepping on your neck with their skate. 

 

Now a lot of people say "I don't like the feel" or "it chokes me." If you don't like the feel, or you feel restricted, you will get used to it.

 

Trust me I was one of those people saying those same things until I got a shot in my neck and couldn't breathe...then I woke up to reality.
